Remy is a self taught artist who was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and is currently based out of colorful Colorado. Her creative character was seeded at the age of 6, when her mom gave her a pencil and paper instead of turning on the television; this prolific energy sprouted in middle school when she discovered a love for jewelry making, and blossomed in 2017 with the craft of tie dye - Remy’s artful ardor has been in full bloom ever since, budding branches of passion for artists’ charcoal and graphic design. This tree is ever growing in the garden of Remy Joy Art.
Remy specializes in charcoal work, graphic design, murals and chalk art. Her charcoal drawings focus on realistic portraits; she uses dramatic contrast between black and white hues to highlight the human form. Her digital art takes a funkier twist, ranging from zentangle doodles to realistic alcohol ink and star filled skies - from calligraphy to crystals. Remy uses line art and gaussian blurs to demonstrate digital depth and disposition. These pieces are vibrant and hued, creating color schemes on the opposite spectrum of her charcoal work. Her mural work follows a similar pattern to that of the digital, embracing a bright and geometric creative energy. Remy’s chalkboard art displays her design and spatial techniques in the realm of lettering and hand printing. Remy is inspired by our people and planet, and the relationship between the two; her art tends to have themes of nature, music, and peace of mind.
