2016 | Home in ATL from college in Boulder, Colorado. I sat at my childhood kitchen table and doodled the Atlanta skyline—
a quiet act of love and longing, shaped by a newfound appreciation for the only home I knew before spreading my wings. My mom absolutely loved the drawing and insisted other people would too. She cast her Jewish mother spell—about a year later, and before I knew it, I sold my very first art print of this exact doodle. It remains one of my best sellers today.

2017 | I started my first Etsy shop—Homegrown Designs. I sold hand made tie dyes—shirts, sheets, socks. You name it, I'd dye it.
A lot of late nights spent staining my bathtub with tie dye—plenty of early mornings, dragging my friends to the mountains for product photoshoots and bribing them with a bagel on the way.
This was really the start of Remy Joy Art, although I didn't know it at the time. I began selling prints of the ATL skyline doodle because my mom told me to. I was making and selling tie dyes just for fun. A college student simultaneously studying sociology, the weather, and communications with simply no plan.

2018 | I enrolled in Drawing for Non-Majors as my summer elective. The final assignment was to find a face to draw, and I chose a reference photo of my good friend Jerry Garcia. I asked the professor if I could start over after day 1. She, respectfully, told me no— "just roll with it."
That moment changed my brain chemistry. No more ripping up drafts the second a line wasn’t straight. No more perfectionism calling the shots. A lesson that still guides me every day as a full time artist—the art of trusting my creative intuition.
Anyhoo, I finished the drawing and freakin’ loved it—the only original that has hung on my walls in every home since, the only one I will never sell. I kept sketching with charcoal on my own time, falling more in love with the messy yet meticulous medium.
My analog edge in a digital world, if you will.

2020 | College graduation was on the docket, but COVID-19 had other plans.
Graduating during a pandemic was both strange and serendipitous. I had no idea what I wanted post grad life to look like—honestly, I don’t even know what’s for dinner tonight—but I knew my creative spirit was craving something bigger than myself.
I bought an iPad, downloaded Procreate, and taught myself graphic design—the modern survival skill for full time artists.
I moved home to Atlanta for a few months, rebranded Homegrown Designs to Remy Joy Art, and took a chance!

2021 | I sold my first original charcoal drawing of RBG and completed my first official commission for Souper Jenny, my favorite lunch spot in ATL. I moved back to Colorado, revamped my Instagram page, and handed out business cards whenever I could. I cold-emailed and DM’d bands and businesses—reaching out to anyone who might take a chance on me. Some took the bait while others left me hanging—a lesson in persistence I’ve come to know all too well.

2026 | With many lessons learned and even more ahead, I now specialize in graphic design and charcoal portraits full time.
Specifically: custom ketubahs, wedding stationery suites, live event posters, music festivals, album art, social media graphics, merch and product design, logos and branding, typography, tattoo design, and fine art gifts, including charcoal and graphite portraits.
It sounds like a lot, because it is. If you have a vision, I’d love to help bring it to life. Thank you for being here and making my dreams come true!
